Karori Park Free Book Box, has been in place since 2016. Take books add books, a mini library at the Karori Park Playground. Recycling books to stop them going to the landfill and encouraging people ( especially the young to read).In July 2017, the park got a new book box that could handle Karori weather, this was supplied and built by local Gabriel Chambers and is the solid and colourful one you still see in 2025. It has been successful because of community commitment, and it is also a spot where good conversations are had.
The community self manage this keeping quality and variety up,this has all helped in the longevity of the box. Long my it last.
